July 10th 2013 - 6 month update posted to private CFB Group:

So…it’s been six months at CFB and I thought I would do a six-month check in!

Here’s the backstory:
Back in September 2012, my dad was having some chest pains and went to the ER. He had a few blockages, which were easily fixed with stents. I was talking to his doctor after the procedure and he mentioned this would probably happen to me if I didn’t start taking care of myself.

This might be a little odd but around that same time, I had met someone that made me start thinking about the potential of having kids. I realized I wanted to be healthy for when/if that day came and I wanted to meet my grandchildren.

Jump to November 2012, my sisters wedding. After seeing the pictures of the day, I was HUGE, bigger than ever! I think I was at about 365 lbs. Knowing I drank too much soda I cut that out immediately. I mentioned this to a buddy at work who had just started CrossFit and he mentioned I should try it out. Knowing I used to play sports in school and missed that team atmosphere, he thought I would definitely enjoy it. So at this point, I started checking out what this CrossFit was all about. Learned all about Paleo and started that up in December 2012.

Starting My CrossFit Journey:
By January 2013, I was down 25 lbs with eating better and playing soccer once a week. I figured that the weight loss wouldn’t keep up for long so I called up CFB and got into the intro class on the 10th. Oh my, was I sore! I did the baseline in about 15 minutes and I think I only did 15 sit-ups. Within the next two weeks, I started going 3-4 days a week and loved it!

Over the next few months, I found out about the ladies and the heroes, we had the CrossFit Open, CFM vs CFB and another baseline (6:25 w/ ring rows). Missed the CFDR throw down and can’t wait until the next one.

Now it’s July, I’m down about 80 lbs and 8 inches around the waste. I can run farther, row faster, jump higher and lift heavier. My next to-do is to figure out these double under things…3x for singles is killing me. I’ve made new friends and CFB has become a second home that I have to visit every day possible.

Thanks to the CFB family for helping and motivating me! The support everyone gives is amazing and helps so much on the days when you think you can’t do anymore.

See ya at 5:30!

December 24th 2013 - Almost 1 year!
It’s been a crazy few months since my last update. Summer ended, thank goodness! It was fun but so busy and too much beer. Did the Whole Life Challenge, went back to strict paleo, lost 20 more pounds and improved my WLC starting score by 29%. I started an olympic lifting class and PR’d both snatch and clean & jerk by at least 20lbs, added 40lbs to my Crossfit Total and last but definitely not least, I got a new job!

So to total it all up, I’m down about 105lbs and 12 inches since November 2012. Still got a long way to go but the folks at CFB keep me motivated.

Merry Christmas!
- Jon

PS. Still need to figure out double unders!

IMG_856897930519095"Back in 2011, at the time I didn't realize I was overweight until I went to the Dr. I found out that I was borderline diabetic. I decided that I had to do something to lose weight. I saw that CrossFit Bloomfield was running a special offer for new members. I attended the Introductory class and I was hooked. At work we had a weight loss competition and every week we would have to step on the scale. I certainly was dropping weight because of the awesome high intensity workouts at CrossFit Bloomfield."
"Whenever I read the WOD, I feel intimidated. But Jordan always ensures me that I can do it. And then I do pull off the workout and feel so strong! I also love that the workouts are ALWAYS different. I never get bored with CrossFit! I also like that with CrossFit, I am more easily able to track my progress. I’m excited to see how strong I can get!" - L. Warren, Royal Oak
"I found CrossFit Bloomfield on Facebook, when I noticed that some of my friends were fans. For about two years I have not done any regular exercise, except walking my dog in the warmer months. I have a treadmill that I never use, and I have invested in exercise DVD’s to try to workout on my own. I quit my gym membership because I couldn’t keep up in the classes and got bored using the weight machines. What attracted me to CrossFit was knowing that Jordan would be there to coach and encourage me every step of the way, and that the workouts would be different every time I went. I tried the first week free and then couldn’t stop. I’ve been working out 3-4 times per week since the first week of December, and I think I’m addicted! The best thing is, I can go straight to CrossFit as soon as my younger daughter gets on the bus, get in an intense 45 minute workout, and be on my way back home by 9:00am. I am seeing results and feeling great! And, I’ve motivated my 12 year old daughter to do extra squats and sit ups with me at home!" - L. Miller, Bloomfield Twp.
"I absolutely love CrossFit Bloomfield! I have never felt so strong in my life. Every type of workout I have done in the past doesn’t begin to compare with CrossFit. At CrossFit Bloomfield, I am taught to be accountable for myself as well as be my own advocate. This has given me the drive to push harder and do things I never thought I could do before. I love that the workouts relate to your every day movements. Having your workouts relate to your every move outside “the box” changes your lifestyle without you even realizing it. I have seen fabulous results in the way I feel and the way I look. Every day is a new challenge. You will sweat, you might cry, AND YOU WILL LOVE EVERY MINUTE OF IT!" - H. Levin, West Bloomfield
"We love Crossfit Bloomfield! My husband and I have been members of gyms and have tried videos, but CrossFit is honestly the only workout we can both enjoy together. I can’t remember the last time I worked out and had fun! And, Jordan is the best trainer we could ask for. He is very good at tailoring workouts to capitalize on a person’s strengths while still making the workouts challenging. Jordan cares about his clients and so you leave happy and eagerly look forward to the next workout." - Team Rez, Redford
"CrossFit Bloomfield is absolutely, 100%, the best athletic endeavor I have ever been involved with! Jordan and the other members are so supportive and motivating making the hardest workouts fun and inspiring. When I first started I felt a little (ok maybe a lot) intimated but Jordan quickly scaled my workouts based on my fitness level at that time. I have always felt encouraged, and I have found that I love pushing my body to its limits. When I joined CrossFit Bloomfield, I believed I was in fairly good shape for my age, but 6 weeks later, I realize I only thought I was. I look great! I know this, because people keep telling me that! ! CrossFit Bloomfield has helped me focus on nutrition as well as and my energy levels have never been this good. I feel awesome and I look awesome, and thanks to CrossFit Bloomfield and Jordan, I am in the best shape of my life!" - T. Stearn, Beverly Hills
